My working process was a little odd on this one. I usually do a first layer of paint all over to establish where I want my positive and negative spaces to hang out. Then I jump around to little bits her and there (the goal is to develop everything as evenly as possible).
With this painting, I worked around the cups in a clockwise direction (beginning with the blue teacup at the bottom). Between cups, I revised the metal tea kettle.
Why am I mentioning all this. Look at the cup at the upper right. Yes, the one with the blue stripe. Look at it! I've been looking at some very painterly painters (translation: loose, fun brushwork to drool over)...and in this painting I decided I needed to try some of that stuff again. I think I figured out something important in that blue stripe cup. I need to remember this!
Oh, and I'm proud of finally coming up with a proper title. I just can't decide if I should call it "Duck duck duck duck duck" or use some sort of exponential notation. Any opinions?
